_______ A man goes mad (at least, he is declared as such by virtue of having been committed), because he is immoderately disturbed by the inferior quality of trousers. In a different context and a different frame of reference, such conviction, such precise attention to detail would be considered a positive attribute. However, consumption is intended for the general public and not the individual – therefore an outburst in a trouser store is misplaced. It need not come to his actually being committed, to a catastrophe of this magnitude, if it were a question of the individual’s perspective which is at loggerheads with socially anchored norms, if it were a question of acceptance. The question remains: what, then, is the lowest common denominator and, rather than the lowest common denominator, doesn’t the “life of difference” actually mean the highest? This exhibition is primarily about outbursts in similar shops.
